Discovering the Power of Oracle Readings
I am so glad you asked!
Let me start by saying that before 2021, you would have never heard me discussing Oracle Readings. But now, I can't stop talking about it. See what I did there?
To orate is to share honestly. Oration means telling it like it is, right? No filter. Unedited. No proving. Uncompromising. Just as it is. Calling a spade a spade. Periodt. (Thank you, Tyler Perry, for this incredible word.)
Crucially, the oracle doesn't override agency; it doesn't require belief and doesn't promise outcomes. In a nutshell, the oracle represents:
Source – where the knowing comes from (divine, intuitive, ancestral, systemic).
Utterance – the act of speaking it into the world.
Reception – interpretation is on the listener. The oracle owes you nothing.
I see it like this: Source, uttering, and receiving.
My Journey with Oracle Cards
Since 2021, I have stumbled upon oracle cards, starting with tarot cards, which I wasn't feeling. But the oracle card ... that's my jam.
I now have several decks, which you will come to know if you keep returning for circular, spiralling insights. For now, I want to talk about the Faces of Oshun Oracle Deck by Abiola Abrams.
This oracle deck is of the divine, Oshun, a Yoruba god/dess. It is ripe with ancient wisdom, futuristic knowledge, and the spectrum between.
I was introduced to this deck at a medicine woman event I attended in London on the evening of the first full moon of the year. The woman holding space while making space had laid out several oracle decks. The one I was drawn to was not Faces of Oshun. However, the beauty sitting on the mat next to me, also called Gloria, had pulled a spread from the Oshun deck. I was literally eavesdropping on her conversation with the oracle.
The oracle deck I pulled from only scratched the surface, but the ones I peeped from the next mat turned nonsense into sense. Things I was pondering but didn't yet understand suddenly became crystal clear.
The Cards I Pulled
Oshun's Voice Chakra - 32/5ive
Oshun the Warrior - 16/7even
Oshun the Creatrix - 8ight
Creatrix: the feminine form of creator. To bring forth, to give birth, to make, to generate from within.
This is a powerful spread. Even today, a week later, I am still unpacking what I know the Oracle is saying.
A New Insight from My Oracle Reading
So, I'll digress here and talk about the oracle I pulled yesterday from my new favourite oracle deck.
The card: Oshun of the Ancestors, Sacred Lineage, Belonging, Family, 6ix.
The Oracle led me to my Grandmother Cora, along with this message:
Born of Cora. Grandmother. Sight unseen, but presence deeply felt. There is only the myth of you. The story of you passed down from mother to daughter. I see you clearly in my mind’s eye. Me in essence, but you in transcendence. As ancestor, you ensure my belonging to the sacred lineage of all life. As familial, you open me to the greater family of blood and bone. Because you were, I am, and because I am, you are!
So, why am I sharing this? Because as the author of your own oracle deck, your own myth, I want to encourage you to shuffle your deck, pull a card (thought, question, idea), and figure out who you truly are. Live your story, as is, yet fluid.
The Guidebook's Wisdom
I can show you how to do this.
Full disclosure: the oracle deck came with a guidebook that helps you take that scary look inside and find the guts to see and accept what is.
The gist from the guidebook states, "Thriving is my Birthright.” My take: my birthright from Grandma Cora and Mother Christine is securely mine. With that, I can go for what I want. Not what I need, because my needs are met. Not what I desire, because I ain't trying to mess up what's already flowing. But, thriving for what I want!

Living with Full Agency
My purpose in life is to encourage you to live with full agency. To live as a sovereign being who takes full responsibility for self. This requires looking inside and clearly sensing everything about yourself—the good, the bad, and the ugly—with full acceptance.
With clarity comes options, and with options, the chance to tend your own garden. Do what you need to do on your patch to live your best life, but with all due respect for others and yourself.
An oracle card reading with me will tap into the lies and what's true to ultimately find truth. Together, we will take an honest and authentic look under the hood of who you are. We'll examine what you're freely expressing and the shadowy stuff you're hiding to see the real you in full bloom.
Reflecting on My Oracle Journey
Now, as I reflect on my eavesdropped oracle pull from last week and yesterday's pull, I understand this:
It is my birthright to go after what I want. I will use my voice as a warrior and creatrix to get what I want, with integrity, agency, and all due respect. Grammie Cora showed up last week (plot twist: if you want details, ask in the comments) and she showed up yesterday to let me know she has my back ... always. Oshun of the Ancestors helped me remember the power of my ancestry and to show gratitude by living in full fabulosity.
Conclusion: Your Journey Awaits
In conclusion, I invite you to explore the world of oracle readings. They can be a powerful tool for self-discovery and empowerment. Trust your gut. Trust your alignment. Trust your instincts. I dare you! Embrace this journey with an open heart and mind. Your self-agency and sovereignty await.
